[Tribune-Herald staff report] GRAZ, Austria — Former Top 5 player Rainer Schuettler dominated ex-Baylor standout Benedikt Dorsch, 6-1, 6-1, Friday to reach the finals of the $25,000 S Tennis Masters Challenger.
Schuettler, ranked 86th in the world, will face No. 61 Florian Mayer today in search of his first tournament title at any level since 2003. Mayer advanced with a 6-4, 4-6, 6-3 win over Austria’s Alexander Peya. The winner of the all-German final earns $3,900.
Dorsch, who hadn’t won a main-draw match in two months coming into the tournament, earned $1,365 and 22 ATP points, enough to boost him about 15 spots from his current world ranking of 179.
